Cajun Kitchen is great old school breakfast diner and a go to spot in Santa Barbara. Cajun Kitchen is a family run business that has a standard of serving great quality food everyday. The first Cajun Kitchen was opened in 1984 on De la Vina Street, right across from world famous McConnels ice cream which has been opened for 66 years.

Every thursday my dad and I go their for breakfast and are treated like family. Everyone is very friendly and always in a good mood. Their breakfasts are top notch and I am never disappointed when I go there. Cajun Kitchen serves cornbread that is to die for. It is so good and melts in your mouth. Some of the favorite meals are the New Orleans Omelet, the French Toast, and the California Eggs Benedict. The New Orleans Omelet consists of Louisiana hot sausage, onions, cheddar cheese & bell peppers it also comes with a choice of hash browns or home fries and a side of toast. The French Toast is great, the portions are huge and you can never go wrong with it. The California Eggs Benedict are poached eggs, Canadian bacon on an English muffin topped with Hollandaise sauce and a choice of potatoes. Just like every other thing on the menu they are great. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

Cajun Kitchen is a great breakfast diner with a good home environment and quality food. You have to go to Cajun Kitchen and experience the classic diner for yourself.

Double Char Bacon Burger

If you are ever in need of a great burger, The Habit is a go to place in Santa Barbara and throughout California. The Habit was established in 1969 in Goleta a couple years later two brothers borrowed money from their mom and bought the burger joint. They then introduced The Habit’s signature charburger which is a char-grilled burger over an open flame. The Habit quickly became the spot for Old Town Goleta and people could not get enough of it. Today there are 94 Habit grills in the U.S four of which are in Santa Barbara and the original one is still there today in Goleta.

On any given day at The Habit I will get a double bacon char with fries and a chocolate shake. I have been to many fast food joints in my life and have still not found a shake that compares to this one. The shakes at habit are to die for. The two Habits located in downtown Santa Barbara are go to spots during lunch for Santa Barbara High Schoolers. The juicy burgers and shakes are irresistible to students and large lines are expected during lunchtime. Asides from it’s excellent burgers The Habit also offers great salads and sandwiches including a tri-tip, chicken club, and albacore tuna sandwich. The Habit’s life long slogan is “There’s no substitute for quality” and I believe that The Habit is truthful to this statement because all of there are meals are high quality.

South Coast Deli in Santa Barbara is the go to spot for all Santa Barbara locals. It has won over 20 awards including best deli and best sandwiches and salads in Santa Barbara. Local owners Jim and Darlene St John opened their first deli in 1991. Today they have four popular Delis throughout Santa Barbara including one in Isla Vista, one in Goleta, and two in downtown Santa Barbara.

If you are planning on going their between 12:00 and 1:00 expect a line out the door because it is one of the most popular lunch spots for Santa Barbara High Schoolers. The most popular sandwich among students is it’s Chicken Pesto Sandwich which consists of sliced chicken breast with fresh mozzarella cheese, pesto, tomatoes & mayo all panini pressed to perfection. But for those of you who are salad people you can’t miss it’s Asian Green Chicken Salad which is also another favorite.

Besides it’s great food the deli also bears an excellent environment making each customer feel like family. All of the delis employees always have a smile on their face and are happy to be their. If you are in Santa Barbara it is a necessity to go experience the quality food South Coast Deli serves.
